Restore and Reset

I’m eight weeks into my sabbatical today. I know it is a tremendous privilege that I have the ability to take this time to restore and reset.

I’ve been intentionally quiet on social channels, spending a lot of time outdoors and doing yoga. Most days my biggest decisions have been which yoga class to take, which house project to work on and what book I should read next.

I’ve stayed mostly away from my laptop, having spent the better part of 3 decades pretty much attached to a keyboard. And I’ve stayed away from networking events, something that has been the lifeblood of the last decade of my career.

This first eight weeks have been about restoration: Rest and Restoration. Just getting back to a healthy state of being – both physically and mentally. It’s been more challenging than I ever imagined. As a life-long planner, the urge to have a plan for “what’s next” overwhelming at times. But, in the last few weeks, I’ve gotten comfortable with not knowing, with letting go.

I’m taking the “comfort” to mean that I’m ready for the next step…. Reset. Reset will be about figuring out what is next….

I am coming out of the cocoon I’ve been living in and I look forward to re-connecting and discussing business ideas and technology. I’m excited to figure out what’s next.
